The perfect program for the reluctant
reader and a sure way to combat "Summer Slide".

The '5 Gets You 25' Summer Reading Program is an English-based reading program designed
to give an incentive to 8–11 year olds to read, comprehend, and effectively communicate what they
have read over the summer months. It is also designed to increase traffic to local libraries and further
parental involvement.

The '5 Gets You 25' Summer Reading Program is also an effective demonstration of the direct,
real-world collation between providing a finished product or service (the reading and book report)
and earning real money (the reward).

Read what the Prince George's County Superintendent of Schools has to say about our program:

The Luke Foundation’s '5 Gets You 25' Summer Reading Program supports our school system’s goal of helping students stay engaged in the learning process during the summer, said Dr. William R. Hite, Jr., Superintendent of Schools. This is also an example of the type of community partnership that supports our mission of improving student achievement.
