Eligibility
The '5 Gets You 25' Summer Reading Program is open to rising 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who are 1) located in Prince Georges County, Maryland, USA, or San Antonio, Texas, USA except where prohibited by law (See eligible residential zip codes), 2) have a parent, teacher, or guardian of full legal age in the jurisdiction in which they live who will certify to the validity of their grade level.
Children of employees and directors of LUKE Foundation and all of its subsidiary or affiliate companies and each of their immediate family or members of their same households (whether related or not) are not eligible.
LUKE Foundation reserves the right to challenge the validity of any student's eligibility. By creating an account, you agree to these official Rules and the decisions of LUKE Foundation, which are final and binding in all respects. LUKE Foundation reserves the right to change any of the terms of these Rules at any time, and you agree to be bound by such changes. If you do not agree with these official Rules, do not sign-up. -
Program Duration, Deadlines and Limitations
The program's start date is June 1, 2011. The program's end date is August 15, 2011. Only students who reside in Prince Georges County, Maryland and San Antonio, Texas are eligible for participation in the 2011 version of this program. (See eligible residential zip codes)
Only electronic registrations and submissions via our web site will accepted for the 2011 season.
Only 500 students from each jurisdiction (MD and TX) will be accepted into the program for the 2011 season. Acceptance will be on a first come, first served basis.
There is no deadline for entry, however, completed book reports must be submitted via the online web site system no later than midnight on August 15, 2011. -
Book Selection
Students are to select five (5) books from the Reading Lists as shown in the "The Reading" section of this website. The student must select books that have not been previously read by the student.

Reporting Obligation
Each student must use our online web-based system to submit a book report for each of the books read. No handwritten, manual, or mailed-in book reports will be accepted. The book report is required to include completion of each of the following sections:
Story Setting
Characters in the Story
Main Event(s) of the Story
Problems or Conflicts in the Story
Conclusion

Financials
Payments will be made within two (2) to six (6) weeks of the program's end date. Payments will be made by check, payable to the Student Reader, and mailed to the parent/guardian address as indicated in the original Sign-up form. The maximum payment to any individual student is $25.00.

Indemnification
By submitting a book report (Content), parents and guardians, on behalf of the minor child, represent and warrant that the book has been read and the content of the report is an original product of the minor child and does not plagiarize, violate, or infringe the rights of any third party.
Parents and guardians, are solely responsible for complying with the laws of the jurisdiction in which they reside and indemnify, defend, and hold LUKE Foundation harmless from, and against, any, and all, liability arising from your submission and/or participation in the program.
By submitting Content, you grant to LUKE Foundation, its parents, subsidiaries and affiliates, a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to (i) electronically print, publish and distribute the Content in all versions and all media, now known or hereinafter created, including, without limitation, the right to translate and electronically publish and distribute the Content on the LUKE Foundation website; (ii) include the Content in advertising and promotion; (iii) include the Content in print and non-print products; and (iv) publish the child's name, in connection with the program.
